Here’s the lowdown on RAM: if you are a real estate professional in Maui County, you are eligible for membership; however, membership is not required, it’s optional. Today, RAM has more than 1,300 Realtor members and more than 130 affiliate members across Maui County who enjoy some distinct advantages of being a part of this organization. First and foremost, RAM members have access to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), the only one available in Maui County. RAM members also have access to a variety of networking events, educational and training opportunities, as well as invaluable tools and resources to help navigate the ever-changing real estate market—and gain specialized expertise in the industry.
And when you are dealing with a Realtor who is affiliated with RAM, you should know that he or she is held to a high ethical standard, as all members adhere to a strict code of ethics.
But being a part of RAM extends far beyond any “fringe benefits” or membership perks. I have been a member of RAM since 2004, and I have served on its Board of Directors since 2009. The organization has provided me with a range of opportunities, but what strikes me the most is what it has provided to my community. To date, RAM has contributed more than $400,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors across Maui County (a cause that I am also committed to), in addition to an estimated $1.3 million to Maui County schools through its “Wishing Well For Maui Students” program, which matches donors with individual schools that have particular needs.

This, I believe, is a reflection of the kind and generous nature of the 1,300-plus members of RAM. And as the economy continues to rebound, I know we will see more of this generous spirit in the future.
