I had forgotten just how bad Maui's drivers are until I returned from a recent two-week trip to the Mainland.
In that entire time (over 1,200 miles in three cities), I did not see a single driver run a red light, fail to stop completely before making a right-on-red turn, or stop needlessly at a yield sign. But within my first four traffic signals while driving back on Maui, I witnessed two drivers run the same stoplight that was red well before they reached the intersection. Additionally, a lady in a Mercedes stopped in an unobstructed traffic lane on Dairy Road for no apparent reason-and nobody was using their turn signals.
Auwe! I know "This ain't the Mainland," but come on, Maui drivers, shape up!
