The Maui College Peace Club will offer a free screening of Playing for Change - Peace Through Music on Friday, Oct. 21, at UH Maui College in the Ka Lama building, room 103, at 6 p.m.
The award-winning documentary describes the worldwide journey of the Playing for Change team, which filmed musicians in Africa, at ancient Middle East sites, in the Himalayas, on city streets and tiny pueblos. Footage of the performances was mixed together to create a musical collaboration of remarkable power, in which the artists perform together, even though thousands of miles apart.
Since its creation in 2001, Playing for Change has evolved into a movement toward peace, dedicated to "creating positive change through music and arts education."
The members of the Maui Peace Club particularly encourage families to bring children and youth to come enjoy this inspiring film.
