Island residents were invited to participate in the Maui Weekly's 6th Annual Halloween Pet Costume Contest. The number of submissions we received was frightening, making it difficult for our spooktacular panel of judges to choose only six prizewinners.
Congratulations to Mika & Keli, Zoey, Mango, Einstein, Baron Von Too Cute, and Beatrix & Guiness! Call 875-1700, ext. 12, to claim your prize!
Mahalo to Birken & Bailey's TOO!!, 808 Deli, Shaka Pizza and Maui Yoga & Kickboxing for sponsoring another entertaining Maui Weekly contest!

Baron Von Too Cute’s bite is definitely worse than his bark in this Killer Whale costume. Lexi Siwecki reeled in this monster of the deep in Kihei.
Meet Guinness, demure French bulldog by day, Demon Dog by night. The frightening “tail” of Wailuku’s Dog Park of the Dead makes the Maui Weekly contest judges want to “flea” the scene. Jessica Gerdel has her hands full with this one…
Arrrrr….f! “A pirate’s life for me,” growls “barkeneer” Mango. On the high seas of Ha‘iku, he’s totally bad to the milkbone in his “scurvy dog” costume, agree Gloria and Malia Ford.
Enter the magical world of fairies and meet this enchanting creature of Kihei Hollow. Tinker Bell Zoey creates nothing but cuteness with her special talents. “And believing is just the beginning,” says her mom, Alice.
Where’s Bill! Beatrix Kiddo, aka Black Mamba the Boston terrier, terrorizes Wailuku searching for her “Death List Five.” She will not speak, she will not sit, she will not stay—until everyone on her “to die list” is sniffed out, scratched off and buried. Jessica Gerdel owns this assassin, as well as Guinness (above), so they will share their winnings.
Beware! The hounds of Kihei, Mika & Keli, are on the prowl for additional bones to add to their collection. Headless dog whisperer Terry Chevrier is just about to unleash their reign of terror on hapless South Maui residents, while the shadowy ghost of photographer Paul Chevrier captures the moment now “pawsed” in time… and the Maui Weekly.
Cock-a-Doodle Doggie Einstein is smart enough to know eggs-actly what to say on Halloween. Chick or peep! He was hatched by Sally Goodness of Wailuku.
