The Maui News - A children's hospital in Washington State is warning Hawai'i officials about a fundraising scam. The Hawai'i attorney general's office said last week that it was notified by Seattle Children's Hospital that residents here might be exposed to a sales campaign by an organization known as "Dynasty Sales."
Hawai'i officials say the Phoenix-based organization deploys teams to sell magazines, books and DVDs door to door. They allegedly purport proceeds will benefit children's hospitals. In 2001, a restraining order against Dynasty Sales was issued after salespeople represented proceeds would benefit Seattle Children's Hospital. The organization is not registered as a charitable organization or professional solicitor in Hawai'i. The attorney general's office also warns that a firm called Pacific Coast Cleaning Services has been selling magazines at Maui homes claiming proceeds will go to a local hospital.
