Skyline Eco-Adventures (www.zipline.com) with Plant A Wish (www.plantawish.org) is has announced its first annual Zip For The Trees community event from Sunday, Oct. 30 to Saturday, Nov. 5, to be held in conjunction with the First Annual Native Tree Plant-out.
During the week, Skyline will offer zipline tours for $50 per person at 3 and 3:30 p.m. (on a first-come, first-served basis) on the Haleakala course on Crater Road.
All proceeds will be donated to a charitable community organization: Nov. 2, Hawaiian Canoe Club's Kamali'i program; Nov. 3, The Nature Conservancy; and Nov 4, Maui Cultural Lands.
The event will culminate on Nov. 5 with a daylong ziplining and tree-planting event. Ziplining tours from 8 a.m. to noon will be $50 per person (on a first-come, first-served basis). Proceeds and donations will be split among the charitable organizations and others.
From 12:30 until 3:30 p.m., Skyline will guide Maui youth groups through the zipline course at no charge. The groups include Hui Malama Learning Center, the Boys Scouts, Aloha House and the Hawaiian Canoe Club's Kamali'i program.
In addition to ziplining, and in celebration of Arbor Day, Skyline and Plant A Wish will plant Native Hawaiian trees on the Haleakala course to help educate participants about Hawai'i's unique history and culture, while making significant contributions to environmental and cultural preservation efforts.
