Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center has scheduled its fifth annual Portfolio Day on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the solarium. This free event features admissions representatives from top art colleges and universities, serving as an opportunity for potential students to receive thorough, one-on-one critiques of their work and professional guidance for a future career in the arts.
Representatives will include Cari L. McIalwain from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Wash.; Robynne C. Royster from California College of the Arts in San Francisco; and Holly McVeigh from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon.
"This event is a pivotal opportunity for young artists" said Kelly McHugh, youth programs and marketing manager for the hui. "It validates their inspired displays of self-expression as a means for building a successful future. It gives teens a chance to get their creative juices flowing and have their personal concerns addressed about college outside of the classroom-in a setting that is less obviously structured and conducive to more informal mentoring relationships with adults."
