Rising Sun Solar announces partnership with SunRun

December 1, 2011
The Maui Weekly

Rising Sun Solar & Electric (RSSE) recently announced it is the only Maui-headquartered company that allows homeowners to go solar for as little as $0 upfront. Through a partnership with SunRun, a national home solar service provider, RSSE gives island residents the opportunity to lock in lower energy rates for 20 years and switch to solar without having to own or maintain the panels. RSSE will install solar panels that are owned, maintained and insured by SunRun. All the homeowner has to do is pay for the power they use-and save between 15 and 40 percent on their total monthly utility bills.

"As much as we would all like to go green, investing in solar energy systems is often out of reach for many of us because of the upfront costs," said RSSE co-owner Matias Besasso. "Our partnership with SunRun has changed the game so that everyone can enjoy cheaper, cleaner solar energy without any cost barriers."

Upcountry resident Susan Hardesty is the first local homeowner to take advantage of this solar power service through the RSSE/Sunrun Partnership. "I've been wanting to go solar for a long time, but I couldn't afford it," she said. "When I learned about SunRun, it was clear I couldn't afford not to put in solar."
