Hawai‘i’s airline seat capacity expected to rise

January 12, 2012
The Maui Weekly

The Hawai'i Tourism Authority (HTA) recently issued a statement projecting the growth of airline seats to Hawai'i to increase by 3.8 percent in the first quarter of 2012. The number reflects nonstop flights arriving from the western U.S., Japan, Canada, Oceania, China and South Korea.

HTA cites a high demand for tourism in Hawai'i and upcoming events such as the Pro Bowl, Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, the Sony Open and the Hawaiian Islands International Soccer Tournament.

"We look forward to further increasing our national and international exposure to sustain the momentum in Hawai'i's visitor industry through 2012," said HTA President and CEO Mike McCartney.
