The South Maui Men's Softball League wrapped up another season with a two-night, six-team, single-elimination playoff at the South Maui Community Park field.

In the opening game on Wednesday, Jan. 11, the Prospects rallied from a 5-1 deficit to defeat Put Out The Fire 9-6. The Bomb Squad jumped out to a 5-0 lead then held on to beat Green18 8-6 in the second game.

On Thursday, Red Eye Souljahs beat the Prospects 8-3, and Last Place routed Bomb Squad 26-6, setting up a championship game between the league's two top teams. Last Place pulled out a 17-14 win over Red Eye Souljahs, highlighted by Fausto Allosado's three-run homerun--the second homerun hit at the South Maui Community Park.

In other softball action in South Maui, the four-team 50 & Over league plays games on Sunday afternoons starting at 3 p.m., and a new seven-team Coed Softball League began at the South Maui Community Park field on Sunday, Jan. 15, with games after the seniors.

Entering it's 17th season, the South Maui Youth Basketball League begain on Friday, Jan. 13. The Super Fryers (5 to 6 years old), and Fryers (7 to 8 years old) Divisions play their games at Kamali'i Elementary School on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Jr. Midgets (9 to 11 years old) Division will play at Kalama Park in Kihei.

We're always looking for volunteer help with game timing, scorekeeping and officiating. Call either me or Jake at 879-4533, send us a message on our South Maui Parks Facebook page, or just come to the park!
