Sunday, Jan. 15, marked the beginning of a new softball league in Kihei-a seven-team co-ed league. The co-ed games are played Sunday evenings starting at 5:30 p.m. on the South Maui Community Park field.
The first game played saw Dem shut out Nuts and Honey 14-0. The second game between 808 Grinders and Hobrah's ended in an 8-8 tie due to the one-hour game limit. The last game of the night was a 16-9 win for Cove Park 'Ohana over Stella Blues.
Prior to the co-ed games, the South Maui Seniors League continued its four-team season. The Maui 5-0 (blue) defeated Fuego 19-17, then the Maui 5-0 (gray) handed Jus Enuff its first loss by a 15-14 score.
Next week brings a third age division into action in our youth basketball programs, which will be played at Kamali'i School and Kalama Park.
