"Baffled about Maui's public transportation system. Coming from Chicago, which has great public transportation, it's been difficult to understand how exactly Maui's system works in our best interest. Moving here, it's left up to you to find your own transportation right away, and if you don't have enough money for a vehicle or cabs, then you're pretty much out of luck. I recently dealt with the lack of rental cars in Kihei, and when renting from Kahului, it's exorbitant prices. The bus is okay, but lacks good communication to residents A light rail is pretty much out of the question, but I hope to see more money invested in the bus, bike lanes and sidewalks--make it more pedestrian-friendly."
