The commentary "Occupy Maui Should Adhere to Nonviolence" published in the Feb. 23-29 issue of the Maui Weekly insinuates that the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movements are violent, domestic terrorists. And by way of the classic propagandist technique of "projecting" guilt-by-association, its supporters here on Maui (OWS-Maui) are somehow guilty. Absurd! This commentary is utter nonsense and irresponsible!
This finger-pointing is divisive, vitriol and incendiary. It potentially places thousands of innocent and good people here on Maui at significant risk of unwarranted, heavy-handed and violent retaliation for having and expressing differing political/social views than the writer, I call out the writer and the Maui Weekly to a public discussion. We (OWS-Maui, the writer's Tea Party folks, public at large, etc.) can have a get-together over tea and have a healthy, civil discussion in the responsible manner that adults should exhibit on a daily basis.
