I am so happy to see that I am not the only one who is affected by cane dust and smoke. I've only lived in Kihei for a year and was afraid, as a newbie, to speak out against cane burning. Luckily, someone had forewarned me about driving through the dust from the cane fields before I actually experienced that particular horror. I mean, come on, can't you at least have a water truck drive behind to lessen the dust storm?
And what is most confusing is why no one ever speaks out against this practice when all you ever hear or read about is "Protect the 'Aina."
