Here's a new way to enjoy all that the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) has to offer: a mixer for the over-21 and young-at-heart crowd. On Saturday, March 10, ArT=Mixx, which is themed to go along with the current exhibit in Schaefer International Gallery, will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. This social experience is a perfect complement to the Yokouchi Pavilion Courtyard next to the gallery--an open-air covered patio embraced by the center's swaying coconut palms and amphitheater greens.
Built-in beverage and food service bars in the courtyard serve a variety of colorful drinks and healthy appetizers made from farm-fresh products. Artists who are exhibiting in the gallery will be on-hand for the evening, demonstrating portrait drawing technique at easels and engaging the guests in mini art projects. Make your own portrait or draw a friend's--it's up to you.
"The central idea around this concept is to connect people to art in ways that are both fun and stimulating yet beyond what they think of as 'art,'" explained MACC Programming Vice President Colleen Furukawa. "Art enters our lives in many ways and is present everywhere,"
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center has created ArT=Mixx, a new way to connect people to art and each other. The premiere event is on Saturday, March 10, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Yokouchi Pavilion Courtyard.
ArT=Mixx is also about networking with colleagues, meeting new friends and just having fun: Maui's DJ CIA spins house and techno tunes for dancing.
Guests are encouraged to Tweet out, Pin It and Yelp about it. The center offers a casual, inviting ambiance to gather, absorb the arts and mix it up each month.
The cover charge is just $10 (plus fees). For tickets, call the MACC Box Office at 242-SHOW (7469) or go to MauiArts.org.
