Hawaiian Airlines recently announced plans to increase service between the Bay Area and Maui by 70 percent this summer. The boost amounts to five more direct flights. This will be in addition to the current four flights from Oakland, California, and three from San Jose weekly. This is in addition to its broad schedule of flights from Honolulu.
"This increased schedule is part of the expanded service we are offering through our new Maui hub," said Hawaiian Airlines spokeswoman Ann Botticelli. "It allows us to route passengers through Maui to other destinations throughout the islands without going through Honolulu International, which is more crowded."
New services will include daily flights from Oakland International Airport starting July 1 and five weekly flights from Mineta San Jose International Airport starting July 4. All flights will be made with Boeing 767 aircraft.
