Maui Brewing Company going solar

April 5, 2012
The Maui Weekly

Maui Brewing Company is partnering with Cogenra Solar of California on an energy cogeneration project. Maui Brewing is one of the state's fastest growing companies and Hawai'i's largest craft brewery.

The companies are partnering to create a solar cogeneration array that will supply Maui Brewing with hot water and electricity.

"We were searching for a way to maximize the space on our roof," said Maui Brewing founder Garrett Marrero. "Cogenra's solar cogeneration technology was the perfect match, producing both electricity and hot water in one compact design. Cogenra's solution helped us maximize our ROI and minimize our environmental impact."

The system will be comprised of 24 modules producing 60 kilowatts in less than 2,400 square feet. It will also support the brewery's current 100-kilowatt photovoltaic system. Installation of the system will commence in the second half of 2012.
