The zipline course that was the scene of a fatal accident recently will remain closed until "completely safe." The fatality occurred while a construction worker was testing the attraction. The KapohoKine Adventures course was closed on Sept. 21 after the death of Ted Callaway of Lahaina.
Co-owner Tony DeLellis said he was on the property the day of the accident and has vowed to make sure it never happens again. He has employed Pacific Ground Systems to reinstall platform anchors. Faulty anchors are what led to the accident, causing the tower to collapse. Project engineer Paul Weber said the new anchors are being put into lava bedrock, which can extend as much as 30 feet below ground level.
