The new backstop project at Kalama Park in Kihei is going great, and should be completed very soon. Also at Kalama, the newly resurfaced tennis courts are awaiting final inspection, and should be open soon.
Girls Basketball Begins
Since our younger divisions of youth basketball have wrapped up for another season, there are no scores to report this week. But that doesn't mean we're pau with basketball!
South Maui Sports
Todd Richter · County of Maui Recreational Assistant
On Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on April 17 and continuing for a few weeks, we'll hold clinics for girls ages 9 to 15 who are interested in playing in our upcoming girls' league. The clinics will be at the Kihei Elementary School court.
Sign in starts at 4:15 p.m., with the clinics starting at 4:30 p.m. Registration forms can be picked up and dropped off at the county Department of Parks & Recreation office, located at the Kihei Community Center, 303 E. Lipoa St. Or you can register at one of the clinics.
We're hoping to start the league in early May. Then, starting in mid-to-late June, our 15 and under league will begin. No clinics have been scheduled yet, but registration forms are available at the office.
Coed Softball League
For adults, our Coed Softball League is still going on until the end of this month, culminating with an all-day, single-elimination post-season tournament on the Sunday, April 29.
Coed Sand Volleyball League Seeks Volunteers
Also, we're looking for anyone interested in helping set up a Coed Sand Volleyball League to be played during the summer at Kalama Park. If you'd like to get involved, please give me a call at 879-4533.
Have a great week everybody.
