On March 18, Maui AIDS Foundation brought back its popular Mardi Gras Maui celebration after a five-year absence. Almost 400 people joined in the festivities at the King Kamehameha Golf Club, contributing over $15,000 to the cause. Maui AIDS Foundation's mission is to stop the spread of HIV infection and AIDS by raising awareness and understanding; to maximize the quality of life for those affected by HIV/AIDS through client services; and to advocate for improved HIV/AIDS services. The group provides anonymous and confidential testing, housing advocacy, support groups, HIV-related healthcare, counseling, and other supportive services to those affected by HIV/AIDS on Maui, Molokai and Lana'i. The Maui AIDS Foundation is based in Wailuku.
