The Maui Weekly

Back by popular demand, Power Up Comedy will present The Don Barnhart Comedy Hypnosis Show at Stella Blues in Kihei on Sunday, May 6.

Barnhart's show--part stand-up, part improv, part hypnosis and full-on funny--is a musical and fast-paced romp through the volunteers' subconscious creative genius which releases their hidden talents. Barnhart turns them into the stars of the show, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats howling with laughter and coming back for more.

His last show on Maui in January was a sold out.

Back by popular demand, Power Up Comedy will present The Don Barnhart Comedy Hypnosis Show at Stella Blues in Kihei on Sunday, May 6.

Barnhart is no stranger to Hawai'i. "Don appeals to both locals and tourists," said local comedian Paul Ogata.

Barnhart got the nickname, "The Crazy Haole" from locals and quickly became a regular fixture on the Islands during the late '80s and early '90s.

Local comedy star Andy Bumatai, who first met the hypnotist in the '80s in California, saw that Barnhart's spirit is truly Hawaiian.

"Andy told me to get to the islands by any means necessary," said Don, "--even if I had to swim."

In 2010, Barnhart received the International Performing Artist's "Bob Hope Award" for his continued service performing and producing comedy shows for the troops stationed overseas.

Barnhart is the only comedy hypnotist that is also an award-winning stand up comedian who continues to headline the top comedy clubs, colleges, cruise ships and corporate events across the country. Barnhart is also one of the top comedy coaches in the country and stars in the new documentary, "Finding The Funny," which explores the question, "Can you teach someone to be funny?"

Barnhart will also offer a hypnosis seminar in Kihei, teaching the fundamental technique used in his hypnotherapy sessions. The certified hypnotherapist has also created a series of personal improvement programs using the power of hypnosis to help you a chive your goals and live your dreams.

"There are no gimmicks, no pills and no magic tools," said Barnhart.
