Many of us who drive the seven miles between Kahului and Kihei see few signs of development in that area, except for the widening and modernization of Mokulele Highway. But if you attend this month's Kihei Community Association (KCA) public presentation at the Kihei Charter Middle School campus on Tuesday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m., you will learn about the projected development for that part of the Kihei-Makena Community Plan.
Maui County Planning Department Director Will Spence and Planner David Yamashita will join the state Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) District Land Agent Daniel Ornellas to explain what's planned for the area on both sides of the Mokulele Highway from South Pu'unene to the Kihei Gateway Plaza area.
"All our meetings are open to the public," said KCA Vice President Mike Moran, "but you are encouraged to join the association as an individual, family or business member."
The association reminds attendees that the Maui Food Bank drive continues each month, "so please remember some non-perishable food donations," said Moran.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for pupu and talk story. The charter school is located at 41 E. Lipoa St.
