Makule Softball League

As one softball league ends, another begins as our Makule (40 and over) Softball League takes over the South Maui Community Park field. The seven-team league began play on Monday, May 7, with three games.

In the opening game, Justin McMahon's three-run triple helped the Bruddah's get out to a 6-1 over Who's On First after three innings. Then, trailing 8-2, Who's scored six runs on seven to tie the game at eight in the sixth inning, then brought home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for a 9-8 victory.

The second game of opening night saw Wasabi come out swinging, taking an 11-1 lead over Fuego after just two innings. The score stayed the same until the fifth inning when the 10-run mercy rule took effect, giving Wasabi the win.

The night's last match-up was another mercy rule game as Blue Collar scored five runs in the first inning and coasted to a 13-0 win over Kihei Sporting Goods, who could manage only four hits.

Makule games are played Monday nights at 6, 7, and 8 p.m.

Have a great week everybody!

We're always looking for volunteer help with game timing, scorekeeping and officiating. If you have spare time and an interest in helping out with a great youth program, call either myself or Jake at 879-4533, send us a message on our South Maui Parks Facebook page, or just grab your shoes and a whistle and come to the park!
