On Friday, June 1, the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) will spotlight abstract art and video artists during its third ArT=Mixx evening from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Yokouchi Pavilion Courtyard.
ArT=Mixx is a new concept event, which is themed to go along with the current exhibit in Schaefer International Gallery, for the over-21 and young-at-heart crowd.
In this installment, systemic abstraction paintings by Idaho artist S.A. (Sharon) Jones will be featured. To complement her work, Maui video artists Trevor Arnholt, Doug DeBoer, Randy Mills and Gabe Mott will display their work in video and light abstraction. The artists will demonstrate techniques and engage the guests in mini-art projects.
On Friday, June 1, the Maui Arts & Cultural Center will spotlight abstract art and video artists during its third ArT=Mixx evening from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Yokouchi Pavilion Courtyard.
"The central idea around this concept is to connect people to art in ways that are both fun and stimulating, yet beyond what they think of as 'art,'" explained Colleen Furukawa, vice president of programming at the MACC. Art enters our lives in many ways and is present everywhere."
Networking is paramount at ArT=Mixx as is just having fun: Maui's popular dejays, Cudra Clover and Deviant, will spin house and techno tunes for dancing.
The MACC's built-in beverage and food service bars will serve a variety of colorful cocktails and healthy appetizers made from farm-fresh products by Choice of Lahaina.
The center offers a casual, inviting ambiance to gather with friends and business associates, meet new people, and share the experience through social media.
Admission is free. The event is sponsored by County of Maui.
