Plein Air Painters of Hawai'i (PAPOH) is a statewide organization of approximately 150 artists who sponsor painting events on different islands in Hawai'i.
"We've held a dozen paint-outs over the last seven years throughout Maui, O'ahu, Kaua'i, Big Island, and Molokai" said Jan Bushart, president of PAPOH. "For the first time ever, Plein Air Painters of Hawai'i is excited to host an event on the island of Lana'i."
The Lana'i Paint Out will be held Tuesday through Friday, June 19 to June 22.

At a "paint out" event, a group of artists all paint together in a given location.
"An amazing thing occurs when artists paint together like this," stated art collector Paul Smith. "The paintings may be of the same scene, but the look and style of each work of art is totally different."
Lana'i residents can expect to see about 15 artists from all of the Hawaiian Islands painting around the island during that time.
Some of the PAPOH artists participating are: Bushart of Maui, founder and president of PAPOH; Debbie Von Tempsky of Maui; Heidi Vogel of Lana'i and PAPOH host for this event; Louisa Cooper, Peter Gommers and Ann Gommers of O'ahu; Jan Shaner, Koana Smith and Susan Conway Kean of Maui; Renee Patten of the Big Island; Dawn Lundquist of Kaua'i; Mike Carroll and Jordanne Weinstein of Lana'i; and several other artists.
Most of these artists are represented by numerous galleries across the state and on the Mainland.
