A remake of the 1980 movie classic, "The Blue Lagoon," is scheduled to air on Saturday, June 16, on the Lifetime Network.
A large portion of the movie was filmed earlier this year at various Maui locations from Makena to Pa'ia to Twin Falls.
More than 30 Maui residents were hired to work as crewmembers including electrical, set safety and stunt coordinators. During filming, actors and crewmembers stayed at local hotels for an estimated 450-plus room-nights in South Maui.
This remake is a "Lifetime Movie of the Week" starring Australian actors Brenton Thwaites and Indiana Evans. Thwaites and Evans will play Dane and Emma, a boy and a girl marooned on a tropical island where they grow up together and fall in love.
