Makule Softball League
The Makule Softball League (the over-40 guys) continued on Monday, May 21, at South Maui Community Park with three games. After a bye last week, the Bruddah's came out swinging against Blue Collar. Justin McMahon's two-run double keyed a three-run first inning and Jamie Thompson's three RBIs led the way to an 11-3 win for the Bruddah's.
Taking the field for the evening's second game, Kihei Sporting Goods (KSG) and Pizza Madness engaged in a defensive struggle. With Pizza Madness holding a slim 3-2 lead in the fifth inning, KSG erupted for six runs behind two RBIs each from Rich Brunner and Bruce Cohen to pull out an 8-3 victory.

Girls Basketball League
We've wrapped up the clinic portion for the Girls Basketball League and started the season on Tuesday, June 12, at Kalama Park. We have two age divisions with games being played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Results from the first week will be in the next issue.
More Basketball Opportunities
We're taking registration for individuals or teams interested in playing in our 14-and-under, and/or 17-and-under basketball league tentatively scheduled to begin at the end of June. There will be a limited number of team spots available for both divisions so the earlier you get contact us, the better.
Coed Sand Volleyball League
I'm hoping to get a Coed Sand Volleyball League going this summer, so get a team together and start practicing! More info on that coming soon.
Southside Skate Jam
Southside Skate Jam was held on May 26 at Kalama Park. We had 18 kids attend, with four of them going home as lucky draw winners of beautiful new skateboards, courtesy of Aloha Boards of Maui. We are planning another event at the skate park for later in the year, so stay tuned.
More To Come!
It's a busy summer for South Maui parks. In addition to basketball and Makule softball, we'll have sign-ups soon for girl's softball and flag football, both starting sometime in July.
Have a great week everybody!
We're always looking for volunteer help with game timing, scorekeeping and officiating. If you have spare time and an interest in helping out with a great youth program, call either myself or Jake at 879-4533, send us a message on our South Maui Parks Facebook page, or just grab your shoes and a whistle and come to the park!
