Makule Softball League

I hope everyone had a nice Kamehameha Day. Because of the holiday, our Makule Softball League games were moved from Monday to Wednesday, June 13. The Braddah's got the night started with a 14-4 win over Pizza Madness, scoring half the runs in an eight-hit second inning. Eric Armstrong led the Braddah's, going two for four with four RBIs, and Jeff Rainsford going three for three with two RBIs. Lance Ribucan was two for two, and Hiram Kaukane was two for three to lead the Pizza Madness team.

After falling behind 9-2 after three innings, Fuego came up with 10 runs on 17 hits over the next two innings, then held on for a 14-12 win over Blue Collar. Benito Alconcel went four for four and Rick Racadio went two for three, with three RBIs to lead Fuego. Jon Bruce hit three triples in four at bat, knocking in four runs for Blue Collar. John Avallone was two for three, with two additional RBIs for Blue Collar.

Finishing up the evening, Who's On First shut out Wasabi 10-0, holding them to just two hits for the game, a rarity in softball. Mark Klaschka and Larry Ragudo combined to go five for seven and knock in six runs for Who's On First. "The Who" remain the only unbeaten team in the league.

You can catch a Makule Softball League game on Monday nights at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. at the Community Park field in Kihei.

Girls Basketball League

After a couple of delays, our Girls Basketball League will finally be underway this week. This year, we will have eight teams in two divisions, and the games will be held on Tuesday nights at Kalama Park. Hope to see you there.

Have a great week everybody!

We're always looking for volunteer help with game timing, scorekeeping and officiating. If you have spare time and an interest in helping out with a great youth program, call either myself or Jake at 879-4533, send us a message on our South Maui Parks Facebook page, or just grab your shoes and a whistle and come to the park!
