The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui and Maui's Sons and Daughters of the Nisei Veterans invite its members and the public to a dedication of a "rock feature" at Kepaniwai Park on Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m., to honor the Nisei Veterans who courageously fought to protect our freedoms.
The dedication will be followed by the screening of "Go For Broke! Memories of Hawai'i Japanese Nisei" at 11 a.m. at the Kahului Hongwanji Temple. Ten Maui Nisei Veterans are included in this 98-minute video. The film's producer, Hiroyuki Matsumoto, will also be in attendance.
Admission to the film screening at is $20 and includes lunch. Net proceeds will be donated to Kansha Preschool, said Matsumoto.
Maui's screening is part of a series that will also take Matsumoto to Hawai'i Island and O'ahu.
