This month, in collaboration with the Kula Community Association, The Maui News and Akaku: Maui Community Television, Kihei Community Association (KCA) has switched it's regular meeting time and place from Tuesday, July 17, to Tuesday, July 24, at 6 p.m. at the Akaku station in Kahului for a televised primary election candidate forum.
"We need to emphasize that this is not a public event, but a studio production," stated KCA Vice President Mike Moran. "Except for those participating and registered volunteers who are supporting it, do not go to the studio."
KCA members and the public can view the program on Akaku's channel 53 or via live streaming at www.akaku.org. The Maui Weekly will also cover the forum in its Aug. 2-8 issue.
"Watch it at home, or join with others for 'election parties' where you listen and discuss with friends and 'ohana, and read about it in the Maui Weekly," suggested Moran.
All Maui candidates who appear on the primary election ballot have committed to participate and answer a series of questions from a varied panel.
KCA will be back to its regular meeting time and place next month on Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Kihei Charter School, 41 E. Lipoa St.
The topic was not confirmed by this issue's publishing deadline.
