Joint forces sweep Maui, apprehending 66 fugitives and clearing 104 outstanding warrants

KHON - U.S. Marshals Hawai'i Fugitive Task Force Officers, Maui Police Officers, Hawai'i County Police Officers, and Kauai County Police Officers conducted a joint fugitive warrant sweep on the island of Maui over the week of Monday, Sept. 3. During the three-day mission, 66 wanted fugitives were arrested, clearing 104 outstanding warrants. Those who were apprehended were wanted for various crimes that include drug offenses, sex offenses, robbery and probation violation.

Perhaps the most notable fugitive apprehended during the sweet was 49-year-old Alan M. Santos. On Wednesday, Sept. 5, Santos was arrested in Kahului on a $250,000 felony warrant for one count of sexual assault in the first degree and two counts of sexual assault in the third degree. The alleged victim in this case is under the age of 14. Santos is currently being held at Maui Community Correctional Center (MCCC) pending further court proceedings.

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, Bill Warner Manuel Jr. from Wailuku was arrested without incident at Waiale Road in Wailuku for 10 outstanding bench warrants. The warrants were for probation violation, criminal contempt of court and failure to appear. Bail for all warrants netted $59,800. Manuel is being held at MCCC.
