If you are searching for overall optimal health and wellness, Spa Doc Integrative Wellness Center provides wide-ranging health programs to fit your goals and lifestyle. Located in Kapalua, known for its awe-inspiring natural beauty and healing energy, Spa Doc offers customized services, workshops and classes to help men and women feel rejuvenated and restored.

Dr. Lida Zwi, DC, MA, RYT, CTT, founder and director of Spa Doc, is a speaker, educator and researcher intent on promoting health through education. Focused on the science, philosophy and art of healthy living, she created Spa Doc.

Dr. Zwi has been a licensed chiropractor in the State of Hawai'i since 2001, has a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology and is a Department of Education-certified anatomist.

"I have taught university-level physiology and anatomy at the Maui School of Therapeutic Massage and at yoga teacher trainings, retreats and workshops," Dr. Zwi said.

While pursuing her doctoral degree, she worked as a personal trainer with a focus on functional fitness and ran various comprehensive wellness programs in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As a former sponsored endurance athlete, she understands the relationship between food, energy and health.

Dr. Zwi utilizes a "food first" philosophy in her approach to healing and recognizes that over 70 percent of our immune system resides in our digestive system.

"As Hippocrates said, 'Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food,'" she quoted.

Through Dr. Zwi's private practice, writing and educational outreach, her patients become empowered to achieve and maintain their most vibrant life.

"I integrate the latest in modern scientific testing with age-old natural health solutions for weight loss, fatigue, depression, headaches, digestive problems and hormonal imbalances," she said.

Through the implementation of simple lifestyle changes and the use of individualized lab-based supplement programs, she has helped many people reclaim their health and wellness.

Steve D. from Napili has been consulting with Dr. Zwi for over five months. "I came to Spa Doc with a lot of gastrointestinal problems accumulated from a year of international travel," he said. "After many hospital and doctor visits, which resulted in taking too many antibiotic prescriptions, my symptoms still remained for over two years."

At Spa Doc, Dr. Zwi conducted extensive lab-testing to rule things in or out with the goal of finding the vulnerability in Steve's immune system and restoring his gastrointestinal functions.

"Dr. Zwi prescribed an entire program that altered my life," he said. "There is a dramatic change. I have more energy and feel alive again."

"Wellness is a journey," said Dr. Zwi. "At Spa Doc, we put knowledge into action."

The Spa Doc cleanse programs are different in the way they educate people and celebrate real food first, and then introduce the highest quality supplements to help the body free up toxins and remove them.

"Lots of cleanses are more like a colon blast rather than a recognition of all the organs of detox, which include kidneys, liver, skin, lungs and, of course, the colon," said Dr. Zwi. "I make it a point to highlight that our cleansing program is not a big deprivation or starve-yourself deal. Rather, it is a discovery and celebration of embracing one's own health for the purpose of thriving. We will be running monthly programs for individuals and groups."

Within the past year, Dr. Zwi and her assistant, Wellness Advisor Michelle Rebar, CTT, both became certified thermography technicians and offer breast thermography services.

"Breast thermography is a valuable and safe imaging procedure in which a camera with a specialized infrared detector captures heat from the surface of the breast to produce an image," Dr. Zwi said.

"This image can then be analyzed to determine the risk for developing breast cancer," added Rebar, who strongly stresses the importance of this method. "Breast thermography provides a window into your breast health by detecting subtle yet significant abnormal heat patterns very early in a disease process. This creates opportunities for early intervention."

In addition, Dr. Zwi and Rebar can help men (who also are susceptible to breast cancer) and women identify risk factors and learn how to modify and eliminate them.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Throughout the month, Dr. Zwi and Rebar will hold free classes every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The classes will include breast health, reducing hormone risk, nutritional changes and demonstrations of how thermography works and much more.

"Education and empowerment is what we care about," said Dr. Zwi and Rebar.

Spa Doc has a boutique stocked with top-quality, professional-grade supplements, organic health and beauty products, jewelry, travel bags, purses and designer personal and event stationery. Onsite and outcall massage will soon be available.

The Spa Doc Integrative Wellness Center is located within the beautiful Kapalua Bay Villa Resort just off of the Lower Honoapi'ilani Road at 500 Bay Drive.
