Volunteers Sought for Haleakala Park Project

The Friends of Haleakala National Park are seeking volunteers for a service project in Haleakala Crater from Saturday through Monday, Dec. 1 to 3. Participants will hike into the crater, stay free in Kapalaoa Cabin, and work on protection of native plants in the crater wilderness.

In addition to helping the environment, participants will also have some time for hiking, stargazing, photography and relaxation.

The park entrance and cabin fees are waived for volunteers doing service work with the Friends of Haleakala National Park. A maximum of 12 persons can be accommodated on each trip, and participants must be able to hike in and out of the crater carrying their sleeping bag and a share of the food.
