The Maui Weekly

"Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist," directed by Peter Brown (Entertainment Tonight, Real People, Whale Wars), Sea Shepherd's longest serving crewmember and first mate to Captain Paul Watson, will make its Hawai'i premiere at the McCoy Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m.

This film has taken the world by storm with its realistic and humorous take on the eco-movement, focusing on "positive activism" and his 30-plus years of behind-the-scenes and below-the-decks action of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

The special event, hosted by Shepherd Hawai'i, starts at 6 p.m. and includes a pre-show reception with Brown and other Sea Shepherd crewmembers, such as Deborah Bassett, star of Animal Planet's hit special series "Viking Shores," and actor/publicist Lon Haber. There will also be a silent auction and a musical performance by True Story.

"There have been many films made about Sea Shepherd, but none as hilarious and revealing as "Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist," which was three decades in the making." Captain Watson said. "Peter Brown, a Sea Shepherd insider, expertly exercises aikido with his camera by turning a negative accusation into a positive confession of influential activism."

Tickets are $25, available at

All proceeds from the evening will benefit The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
