The South Maui Men's Softball League wrapped up another great season with a six-team playoff on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 20 and 21.

After trailing the whole game, Aww Shucks got a three-run homerun from Fausto Allosado in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead for good, going on to defeat Q103 13-7.

The next game between Caged and Put Out Da Fire was close all the way, with Caged taking a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning. Down to their last at-bat, the firemen came up with three runs and got the 8-7 win.

Wednesday's first game saw top-seeded and undefeated Red Eye Souljahs fall behind Put Out Da Fire 5-1. Wakon Childers' two-run homerun keyed a late rally, and Red Eye went on win 8-5.

In the night's second game, Wild Ones jumped out to a 12-5 lead that grew to 16-7 after six innings. Aww Shucks rallied, scoring seven runs in the top of the seventh, but fell short, losing 16-14.

The championship game between the league's top two teams was great. The Wild Ones came out swinging, scoring seven runs in the first inning. The Red Eye Souljahs didn't give up, and after scoring nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, took the lead 17-12. Wild Ones fought back, tying the score 18-18, sending the game to extra innings. The Wild Ones scored four runs in the top of the eighth, two coming on Jared Bonani's homerun for a 22-18 lead that they held on to, coming away with the victory.

Congratulations, Wild Ones, 2012 South Maui Men's Softball League champs!


On Sunday, Nov. 18, Maui 5-0 Gray defeated Maui 5-0 Blue 5-1, and Jus Enuf overwhelmed Wasabi 13-3.


Also on Sunday, Cove Park Ohana squeaked by Nuts and Honeys 14-13, the Beach Bums beat out Platinum 14-9, and Boom bombed the 808 Grinders 9-3.


This is the last week of basketball clinics for our three youngest age divisions. Practices will begin next month, with games starting in January. Look forward to another fun season!
