Horizons Academy, the only nonprofit special-needs school on Maui, has moved to its new Kihei location at 2679 Wai Wai Place.
The large, centrally located facility and highly specialized staff are equipped to accommodate the specific needs of its varied student base.
For nearly 40 years, Horizons Academy has provided a safe, nurturing and highly professional educational environment for Maui's special children.
"Our educational objective is to prepare children with special needs to be active and productive members of the community by empowering and supporting them to achieve their highest social and vocational potential," said Horizons Academy Board Member Mare Langlois.
During its "Tuition Assistance Fund Drive" the school would like to raise $30,000 to benefit children in financial need. Money raised through the drive will offset the cost of tuition to ensure no child in need is turned away, regardless of financial situation.
"To support the 'Tuition Assistance Fund Drive,' we are hosting a Klaus and Clause Benefit Night on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Cary and Eddie's Hideaway," said Langlois. "We are serving dinner and drinks and hosting a deejay for the evening."
There will also be a silent auction and door prizes.
Event organizers are seeking in-kind donations for the silent auction.
