Rotary Club Of Kihei Sunrise to Pick Up Electronics, Raise Funds

January 3, 2013
The Maui Weekly

The Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise is holding an electronic e-cycling event on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon at the St. Theresa Church parking lot at the corner of South Kihei Road and Lipoa Street.

The Rotary club will pick up or accept unwanted electronic equipment for a small donation while giving Kihei area residents the opportunity to support the organization's scholarship and health activities for Maui students and other community projects.

Kihei Sunrise Rotarians, with the cooperation of the Maui County Electronics Recycling Program, will pick up the equipment and deliver it to Habitat for Humanity's ReStore warehouse in Wailuku for refurbishment or recycling.

The club requests a donation of $5 each for the following items: small boxes of accessories, TVs up to 19 inches, keyboards, speakers and laptops. The club will accept $10 for medium-sized boxes of accessories, TVs up to 25 inches, desktop computers and computer monitors. Bigger equipment, such as TVs larger than 25 inches, and large boxes of accessories will cost $25 for pickup.

Recyclables include items with electronic circuit boards--computers and TV's--and everything that attaches to them, as well as audio, phone and most office equipment. No appliances will be accepted.

Useable equipment is donated to Habitat families, schools or nonprofits. Items that are not useable or sellable will be shipped to the Mainland for recycling. The e-cycling program guarantees responsible recycling of electronics byproducts.

This event will cover Kihei, Wailea, Maui Meadows and the Ma'alaea areas only.

Call Margie at 633-4563 to arrange for pick up or you can drop off items at the St. Theresa Church parking lot between 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Rotary International has over 1.2 million members worldwide meeting at 32,000 clubs in 207 countries. The Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise, which is one of nine clubs on Maui, meets on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. at the Five Palms Restaurant in the Mana Kai Maui Resort.

For further information about this club, contact President Patty Hemmen at (808) 280-8372 or visit the club's Website at www.kiheirotary.org.
