COED SOFTBALL LEAGUE PLAYOFF RESULTS
The South Maui Coed Softball League wrapped up its second regular season on the Dec. 16 with four games.
Kevin Fanara went four for five with a homerun and five RBIs. Kepa Alconcel was four for four with three RBIs leading Nuts & Honeys to a 16-5 win over the 808 Grinders, who got a late two-run homerun from the big kahuna, Josh Richardson.

So Wut finished at the top of the league after their 16-8 win over the Cove Park 'Ohana (CPO). Derek Perriera and Andrew Lovell combined for six hits in seven at-bats to lead So Wut. Chazzaniel Sa'u led CPO, going three for three with one RBI and one run scored.
Boom secured second place after a 21-7 win over Red Line. Malina Mindoro was red hot, going five for five, knocking in three runs and scoring five runs to top Boom. Brian Halvorsen topped Red Line going three for three with two RBIs.
The final game between Platinum and Beach Bums went to the Bums 12-11.
The South Maui Coed Winter Softball League finished another fun season with a single-elimination playoff at South Maui Community Park on Dec. 23.
The 808 Grinders took the day's first game in a forfeit, as Boom was not able to field a full team.
Next, Nuts & Honeys edged Cove Park 'Ohana 4-0 in a defensive struggle. Benito Alconcel went two for two and knocked in two runs to lead Nuts and Honeys.
Top-seeded So Wut then took the field against Red Line, with Red Line scoring the game's first run. After that, it was all So Wut. Powered by Ikaika Dukes two homeruns, and five RBIs, So Wut went on to win 14-1, and advance to the championship game.
The 808 Grinders jumped out to a 6-1 lead on Nuts and Honeys, helped by Josh Richardson's two-run double. Nuts and Honeys scored eight runs in the fourth inning, three runs coming on Alex Roman Jr.'s homerun to take the lead for good, and hold on for a 13-11 win to join So Wut in the final game.
In a high-scoring back-and-forth game, it was Ikaika Dukes coming up big again, going five for five, with three homeruns and nine RBIs, edging out So Wut for a 22-19 championship game win.
Close to 200 kids registered for Maui County's two youngest youth basketball divisions. We are all looking forward to another fun season, which will start mid-January.

The first phase of the photovoltaic panel installation project at the Kihei Community Center has been completed. The newly installed panels will supply solar power to the Aquatic Center, and provide a little covered parking for community center users.
There will be a dedication ceremony for the new photovoltaic panels on Monday, Jan. 14, at 9 a.m.
