Homeless need more attention

January 17, 2013
James W. Macey - Makakilo, O‘ahu , The Maui Weekly

I see that Rep. Sharon Har was supposed to attend the recent Housing Committee meeting on homelessness in Hawai'i. As my representative, I was very disappointed that she did not show up and also that the majority of the listed speakers did not show.

Our homeless are our most needy residents, and we must come together and give them as much help as possible.

I hope she will make an effort to start showing up for meetings and make a greater effort to provide as much help and assistance to our most in need.

The mayor and City Council of Honolulu deserve to be in jail for the way they have treated our houseless population. Their treatment of our most needy persons and children is downright sickening.

I would like to see them all make more of an effort to help our houseless families in the future.
