January 24, 2013
The Maui Weekly

On Monday, Jan. 14, a blessing was held to inaugurate a series of photovoltaic (PV) panels installed over approximately one-half of the parking lot at the Kihei Community Center on Lipoa Street. The PV panels are expected to save Maui County $1,000 per month in electricity costs, according to Mayor Alan Arakawa, who spoke at the ceremony.

At the dedication of the Kihei Community Center Photovoltaic Energy Project, Mayor Arakawa thanked the many partners, both public and private, who had made the project a reality.

The project was developed by Maui County in partnership with Haleakala Solar, Bosch Solar Energy, North America Branch, and GEN-X Energy Development LLC, Renewable Energy Developer, among others.
