I visited the lovely island of Maui in January 2013. I was overawed by the loveliness of this island. I was also delighted to meet the wonderful people there, and believe they are the nicest people in the world.
I was also pleased to see recycling of cardboard and bottles, but believe our system in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, would go a long way to help Maui save money and be more sustainable.
We recycle all plastic and glass, as well as all paper. Our general waste is sorted and then composted. This compost is sold to the public and farmers.
