Shaka Pops, Maui's local handmade ice pop company, celebrated their first anniversary with a win for their entry in the Parade of Whales on Feb. 16. The Shaka Pops' parade entry was led by their signature bright green tricycles, followed by a live band, a life-sized dancing Lava Flow pop and a ten-foot tall purple octopus surrounded by 22 local kids carrying giant ice pops and throwing beads to the spectators.
Shaka Pops was launched on Whale Day 2012. Their artisan ice pops, using fresh local fruit and ingredients, are available at local festivals, Friday night town parties, the Maui Swap Meet, local retail stores and at their roadside location in Hana.
Shaka Pops, Maui’s only artisan popsicle company, celebrated their first anniversary with a win for their Whale Day parade entry thanks to an enthusiastic team of volunteers and “Octopop wranglers.”
