The Maui Weekly

Csar Gaxiola, executive director of the J. Walter Cameron Center, announced that the center will be honored by Mayor Alan Arakawa on Monday, April 1, at 10 a.m. with a ceremony in the ninth-floor Mayor's Conference Room of the County Building.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

The mayor will issue a proclamation commending the center for 40 years of service to the community of Maui as a place of hope and the current location of 17 social and human service agencies serving an estimated 30,000 people each year.

The J. Walter Cameron Center opened its doors on April 23, 1973. The center was developed with the mission of "providing appropriate program and administrative space to nonprofit organizations that supply health, education and human services to Maui residents."
