The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Maui is offering a "Forty Dollar" fix for Maui's big dogs. For a limited time, SPCA Maui will fix all dogs over 40 pounds for just $40 at local veterinarians.
"Our new "Forty Dollar Fix" was created to have a big impact on the number of dogs entering our island shelter," said SPCA Maui's Peter Tierney. "Big dogs have the biggest litters and cost the most to fix."
SPCA Maui's SNAP program is designed to be user-friendly, quick and easy" and matches clients with local vets.
"The program is a win-win for Maui," said SPCA Maui President Sue Liscombe. "Through fundraising, like the upcoming Visitor Industry Charity Walk, donations and private grants, we are able to keep our islands' vets busy and help offset the costs of spay and neutering family pets. With the cost of fixing a dog reaching as high as $500, fixing the family pet can put a major strain on a family's budget."

(There is a limit of five dogs per household.)
