An ocean of gratitude goes out to all who were able to join Hospice Maui for our Memorial Day Celebration. Your presence and the contributions of delicious dishes are just a few ways you helped to make this a heartfelt and meaningful event.
A special "thank you" to our volunteers: Irene Ryding for bringing us the sounds of the angels through her harp playing as guests arrived; Ann Babson, Sanni Tharp and Anne Rowehl for their readings; and the many hands who helped setup and cleanup.
Thanks to Brenda Gazabat, Harriet Collopy, Jan Yamamoto and Rinchen Hand, who assisted in mailing, folding programs and making phone calls to invite families.
Your open hearts and willing hands make you all valuable members of our team.
We were treated to a day of soft breezes under partly cloudy skies, which kept the temperature pleasant, as our own Tim Shiroma and his wife, Barbara, played some local-style music and harmonies. Uncle Leslie Kuloloio never fails to give us chicken skin with his contributions of talk story, musical selections and prayers of gratitude. We are grateful for Kahu Kealahou C. Alika for hosting and assisting in the service on the grounds of Keawala'i Church. Mahalo to Father Gary Colton, The Venerable Lama Gyaltsen and Rev. Dr. Robert Nielson for their participation.
We appreciate Miyako Sushi for delicious trays of sushi and Kahului Florist for the centerpiece. Maui Wedding Cakes graciously donated their white doves for release--an ancient symbol of love, devotion and spirit.
