'Ulalena and Makena Beach & Golf Resort has announced the opening of "LU'AU at Makena Beach & Golf Resort," a unique Hawaiian lu'au experience never before available on Maui. LU'AU opened its doors on Sunday, June 30.
"We're really excited about this," said 'Ulalena General Manager Dennis Preussler. "LU'AU offers all the crowd-favorite elements of a classic Hawai'i lu'au, but in an elegant and intimate setting where focus on perpetuating our island culture, providing exemplary service and providing a five-star fine-dining experience sets us apart from the rest."
The new evening attraction takes place on Wednesdays and Sundays at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn at the Makena resort, with pristine views of the ocean and nightly sunsets. The menu, featuring farm-to-table cuisine, is prepared by Executive Chef Marc McDowell and offers multiple courses and served with special surprise presentations.
A recent private engagement at Makena Beach & Golf Resort featuring ‘Ulalena provides a sneak peek into the new show’s beautiful outdoor setting.
Menu items include Ahi Poke in a Ti Leaf Boat, Mahimahi Lau Lau with Molokai Sweet Potato and a dessert sampler of Mac Nut Brittle Flan Tart, Mango Cheesecake and Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Unlike a typical lu'au, food is prepared fresh daily, plated and served to each table, and offered exclusively at LU'AU.
"We are thrilled to provide an out-of-the-mainstream product for our visitors and kama'aina," said Leo Mallari, director of food and beverage. "This a dream come true for Makena. An unforgettable experience awaits you. From the incredible food and beverage served to you at your table under the stars to the world-renowned 'Ulalena show that will enthrall all who attend."
Ticket start at $119 for adults and kama'aina rates are available. Valet and self-parking is included as well as server gratuities, making it easier and more enjoyable for guests.
'Ulalena will continue nightly shows at Lahaina's Maui Theatre on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
