Lisa Darcy, executive director of Ho'omoana Foundation, has successfully advocated for a reduction in price for monthly (not daily) bus pass. The Maui County Council approved the reduction, and Maui Economic Opportunity began processing disability pass intakes at its 99 Mahalani St. office on July 1.

The cost was reduced from $45 to $30 for monthly fixed route passes.

Applications can be completed at MEO (249-2990) or applications can be downloaded from the MEO Website or the Maui County Website (

"I will continue to demonstrate the benefit to the council by providing examples of how this reduction has improved our communities lives," said Darcy. "Please encourage and direct anyone to me who is willing to tell the council how much this means in their life. I will record their testimony and submit to council. It is important we demonstrate the value to them so they may continue to support our community's needs."
