Tropical Storm Flossie will spread heavy rain with a risk of flash flooding throughout the main Hawaiian Islands through late Tuesday night.
It is expected that the storm will bring very heavy rain, increasing the threat of flash flooding. However, the amount of rain will vary considerably by location.
The rain will be widespread, affecting both high and low elevations. Rock and mudslides caused by rainfall or runoff will be possible on or near mountain slopes. The heavy rain also may produce urban flooding or ponding.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding kills many people every year. Remember that it does not have to rain heavily at your location for flash flooding or mudslides to occur there.
Monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action if flash flood warnings are issued.
