Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) received a donation of $5,000 from the Bank of Hawai'I (BOH). This donation continues the bank's support of MAPA's School Partnership Programs: Educational Theatre Tours and Voices.
MAPA's Educational Theatre Tours have been bringing multiple high-quality, professional productions to schools statewide every year for over 30 years. The Voices program sends teaching artists into elementary school classrooms throughout Maui to teach literacy skills through drama. MAPA's School Partnership Programs are carefully crafted to align with Common Core State Standards adopted by the Hawai'i Department of Education. These programs reach over 40,000 schoolchildren annually.
"We are deeply grateful to partner with the Bank of Hawai'i to bring MAPA's School Partnership Programs to hundreds of schools across the state," said David Johnston, MAPA's executive and artistic director. "Bank of Hawai'i's support truly makes a difference to MAPA's ability to continue serving thousands of students every year."
