Maui’s New Rotary Presidents Inducted

August 8, 2013
Maui Weekly

The nine Rotary Clubs on Maui have installed new presidents and boards of directors for the 2013-14 Rotary year, which began on July 1.

Presiding over the installation ceremonies at each club were Rotary District 5000 Assistant Govs. Hugh Chare and Joanne Laird, and District Gov. Phil Sammer.

Each new president attended a four-day Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS) in San Jose, California, to prepare them for leading their clubs in the new Rotary year.

The nine Maui Rotary Club presidents and their president-elects meet once a month to share club information and plan all-island Rotary events. Some of these events for 2013-14 will include school supplies drives in August, November and April drives for the Maui Food Bank, an annual Weinberg Project, purchasing books for the October Maui Youth Faire, providing dictionaries for every third-grader in Maui County, and funding and staffing the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp for 90 high school students.

The clubs on Maui are a part of Rotary Internationals global network of more than 32,000 clubs in 207 countries. Rotary International consists of 1.2 million professional men and women who, as civic leaders, volunteer to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities.
